Plank Road, today known as Trafalgar Road, is a very interesting part of Oakville's travel history. The building of a plank road on Seventh Line was begun in April 1850 on a 19-mile stretch of road that was usually hard to travel because of extreme mud. A toll was charged to drive on Plank Road and the tollkeeper was housed in the house seen above that is still located at the corner of Macdonald and Reynolds Streets.
