Hill House is an interesting Oakville landmark with ties to Oakville's black history. This Gothic revival farmhouse on Maple Grove Drive was the home of James Wesley Hill, also known as Canada Jim, a well known Oakville-based conductor for the Underground Railroad. Hill made his living as a strawberry farmer, but in the black community he was widely recognized for aiding the emancipation of close to 800 slaves.
